In this English speaking lesson, you will learn the difference between the words, Travel, Journey, Trip & Tour. These often confuse English learners and make mistakes while speaking English.

In this Spoken English lesson, you will learn how to differentiate between the words travel, trip, journey and tour. If you are a traveller, it may be a good idea to know the difference and hence use the words correctly in your day to day English conversation.

Travel is used to talk about going from one place to another. It can be used as a verb, noun or an adjective.

• Verb: Sam travels a lot
• Noun: Travel has become easier these days.
• Adjective: I know of a good travel agency.

Journey: Is the distance covered when travelling from one place to another. It can be a long or a short journey.

• How was your journey?
• How long is your journey to work every day?


The trip is used to talk about a short journey somewhere for a purpose, business or pleasure.

• We went on a trip to Greece.
• My boss is always on a business trip.

Tour is a journey during which several places are visited, especially on a holiday.

• Noun: We went on a tour to Spain last year.
• Verb: I toured Europe with my friends.

Let's dive deeper into the nuances of word stress in American English! In this video, you'll learn how to create contrast between stressed and unstressed and reduced syllables. We'll practice all 20 vowel sounds in American English in two-syllable words so you get more comfortable making the stressed syllable longer, louder, and higher in pitch. You'll also try to relax on unstressed and reduced syllables, making them shorter, quieter, and lower in pitch. The family unit has changed over time. In speaking about these changes, you will need a variety of vocabulary, both traditional and more contemporary (of this time), because just as families have evolved, so has the language to describe them.

In this video, we will look at some words to talk about the family unit in terms of types, members, and trends. We will also look at marriage and other aspects of family life.

Examples of the vocab in this lesson include nuclear and extended family, blended family, stay-at-home dad, nuptial, estranged, step-sibling, widower, and others.

Remember, vocabulary variety is a key component of the IELTS and TOEFL essay. Make sure your lexical resource is up to the challenge.
